What Can Help Ongoing Joint Pain?

Most ongoing joint pain comes from osteoarthritis (wear and tear), tendon and ligament injuries, overuse, or inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. The best first steps for most people are a proper diagnosis, physical therapy and strengthening, weight management when it applies, and pain relief that's safe for you.

When those aren't enough, some patients choose non-steroid, in-office injections. At Regen Wellness in Dallas, a licensed provider evaluates your joint first, then explains options such as Prolozone and PRP joint injections, along with what the research does and doesn't show.

Our Joint Pain Treatment Options

Our injections are non-steroid options. Many patients use more than one approach, and injections work best alongside strengthening, not instead of it.

How We Evaluate Joint Pain

  1. Free info call

Tell us where it hurts, how long it's been going on, and what you've tried.

  2. Provider evaluation

A licensed provider examines the joint, reviews your history, medications and any imaging, and explains your options, including ones we don't offer.

  3. Labs when they'd help

Inflammation markers, vitamin D and other labs when your history suggests an inflammatory or autoimmune cause, or before an injection.

  4. Your plan

Strengthening and activity guidance, plus an injection series if it fits. We'll refer you for imaging, physical therapy or a specialist opinion when that's the better next step.

  5. Follow-up

We check how you're responding before recommending more treatment.

Support Beyond Injections

Every plan is personalized. Along with any injections, most plans include:

  • Strength and movement. Building the muscles around a joint takes load off it.
  • Weight and metabolism. Every pound of body weight adds several pounds of force on the knees with each step. If weight is a factor, we'll look at the metabolic causes too.
  • Inflammation. Checking for autoimmune conditions and nutrient gaps, and an anti-inflammatory eating plan.
  • Supplements only with a reason. Your provider will recommend specific products, and you can find the practitioner-grade options we use in the inflammation and joint health collection at Regen Wellness Vitamins, our supplement store in the same suite.

Patients sometimes ask about peptides such as BPC-157 for tendon or joint injuries. Research is mostly in animals, and it isn't FDA-approved for this use. We'll explain what's known if you're interested.

Joint Pain FAQs

What kind of doctor should I see for joint pain?

Start with a provider who will examine the joint and find the cause. A rheumatologist treats inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis. A clinic like ours evaluates your joint and offers non-surgical, non-steroid options such as Prolozone and PRP once serious causes are ruled out.

Are there non-surgical options for knee arthritis?

Yes. Strengthening and physical therapy, weight management, bracing and non-steroid injections such as Prolozone and PRP are all options. How well they work depends on how advanced the arthritis is, and your provider will give you an honest view of what to expect for your knee.

Does PRP work for knee pain?

Research is mixed. Some trials in knee arthritis found pain relief lasting several months, while others found little difference from placebo. Results vary with how the PRP is prepared and the severity of the arthritis.

Do you offer steroid injections?

No. Our joint injections, Prolozone and PRP, are non-steroid options. Many patients come to us looking for an alternative to steroid shots. Prolozone has shown pain relief in knee arthritis trials, mostly in the first one to two months, with low-quality evidence overall, and PRP research is mixed. Your provider can help you decide which fits.

Do I need an MRI or X-ray first?

Not always. It depends on your symptoms and history. Bring any imaging you already have. If your exam suggests a tear, fracture or other structural problem, we'll recommend imaging before any injection.

Does insurance cover joint injections?

Prolozone and PRP usually aren't covered, because they aren't standard insurance-covered treatments. Our services are self-pay, and many patients use HSA or FSA funds.
